Miks grew up looking up to Rudolfs, that makes Rudolfs an OG veteran of the scene. Although, Miks has been around for some time as well, and is technically an OG too. That means Rudolfs is a double OG? Ok, nevermind that, basically both of these dudes been around for some time, and they have a hard time remembering how long they have been skateboarding. They met in games of skate tournaments before, and they know each other pretty well. But who is going to win? The answer is not that obvious, or is it?
Tomorrow we have DEDA VS KARLIS BOGUSTOVS
Hope you have seen the teaser for out upcoming short video OASIS. Planning to release it in the beggining of the next week.
Saturday is the filming day for these games, we also try to start early. You can guess that some “athletes” are not in their best shape on Saturday morning. Although, there are cases when getting hammered the night before worked as a benefit (Deda filmed his R.USH HOUR part in 3 hours after a heavy night out), with games of skate it is unpredictable. In case of Roberts Potašs it worked out fine, whereas Aleksis Sokolovs showed much worse results, and they both were out the night before. Is it good to be hungover, is it bad? Somebody needs to make a research about that. Meanwhile, here is the next game which might have some answers.
Sorry for the delay. As you all probably know, RajonTV is family run organization, and last week the family got a bit bigger. So there was some important business to take care of. Now we are back!
A never-forget-Egons-moment
Yet another dope game of skate. This time OG Egons Avots is playing Jevgenijs “Jefka” Kostirko. Both of them participated in the last year championship. Egons got to the second round last year and Jevgenijs did not. How is it going to turn out?
Skating one and the same spot all the time can generate new ideas. If you are at a spot for one day you might not notice all the lines or possibilities that locals see. Locals know their spots inside out; they see hidden obstacles and have lines visitors might not figure out at first. You got to spend some time skating a spot to film something worthy there. And spot centered videos challenge skaters to be original at the same old plazas. Like for example the London’s Atlantic Drift crew at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Bobby Worrest at Pulaski, or Mike Arnold at Lloyds. All of these videos thrive creativity as well as keep these places energised.
As for the Baltics, we also have plazas that deserve to be represented and have videos centered around them. Tallinn has Freedom square. Riga has LNB. And VIlnius has Vincas Kudirka Square which was the focus forMantasVaškelaitis. Mantas is a Vilnius local, who has put out a part filmed at the main OG plaza in Lithuania. We talked to Mantas about that.
Hello Mantas. Congrats with the part! How did it all came about? Wassup Rajon, thanks! Basically I always wanted to film something raw and true. Some vx lines and everything. The first time I saw my bro’s Christoph’s video “Pfusch”I got super hyped on his filming, I also figured that filming with him would be just perfect. And he actually wrote his master’s thesis on skatevideos haha. Yeah I really wanted to do something with him.
What can you tell us about Kudirka’s square?
Kudirka’s square is probably the most iconic skate spot in Lithuania, there used to be hundreds of skaters skating there when I was a kid. I always loved the spot. It’s true that everyone had already filmed the shit out of that spot but I wanted to something different at least some kind of different soundtrack haha.
So that being said, the first place we started filming with Christoph was Kudirka’s square. We filmed like 3 lines and some other shit on that day. It’s was so fun filming there, just doing whatever, not putting that much though into it. Yeah so we figured why not film the whole part there. Just like Jacopo Carozzi did in the iconic stazione centrale in Milan.
The filmer Christoph Bauer and Mantas
How long did it take youguys to film it?
We spent like 3 full days in total at the square and became Kudirka’s locals. Just doing fun stuff like slappy grinds ahh it was fun indeed. It wasn’t work, it was play. Watching the video now I only get positive vibes- looking forward to film more with the filmer. By the way, he calls his videos “pfusch” which means “bullshit” in german. That’s that attitude I love.
What is the atmosphere at the spot?
You can find everything there- ledges, rails, stairs, flat is good as well but it used to be even better. This spot has gone through multiple skate eras. When I was little, there would be cops showing around quite often. I even remember the legend of the red (I think) bus, which would arrive with a bunch of cops inside and bust as much of skaters as possible. I remember myself having a spot to hide in that case- everytime the cops would come, I would run to the underground parking below the square and hide behind cars there. On the other hand, one of the former mayors of Vilnius has intentionally put rails on the ledges so that they wouldn’t get damaged. This is, of course awesome because now we have ledges AND rails hah. Generally, there have been times when skating was super illegal at Kudirka’s square and also times when we were free to do whatever we want. As for now, cops rarely come- they’re quite tolerant towards us. However, I hate the little gopnik kids that hand out there: smoking cigs, drinking buzz, playing some moroz music while their shitty BMWs (or motorcycles- “pyrdas” as we call them) are next to them. This is the only thing I don’t like in Kudirka’s square I guess- everything else is perfect! Come skate with us
Two of the youngest contestants, Tikari skateshop rider Kristofers Ozols, who was featured in RAJONTV projects before (R.USH HOUR and GOSC), is playing against Mārtiņš Reitups the guys who unlike Kristofers has yet been featured anywhere and had practically no exposure whatsoever. Well, this is going to change rith now.
Clockwise rider Kaspars Gobiņš aka Smoke vs Trank Boy Roberts Potašs. The poster to this game looks like a clickbait, but these guys are real, and they actually look like that most of their time.
Tomorrow some youngsters – KRISTOFERS OZOLS VS MARTIŅŠ REITUPS
September a month when RAJONTV.COM celebrates its birthday. Last year in september RAJONTV web site was launched and the first LINKS article was about September 2017. Thanks for staying with us and supporting the site!
While the whole skate world was shaken by Dime Glory Challenge, the Baltic skate community was shaken poked by Rajon Around The Block 2018 skate contest. It was all pretty much directed by the Mastermind Fricis Štrauss, the guys with all the good ideas. It was wild day, big s/o to all of the skaters and of course Fricis and also Deda for making all of the enders that day.
We also started the second season of RajonTV Game of Skate Championship! Two games are up already, and this weekend we are posting two more, so stay tuned. First game was with our tall boy Aleksis Sokolovs which he unfortunatelly lost. You can watch how he recovers from that shameful failure in the new TRANKBOYZ TRASHING episode by HeiJah Media. Btw Happy Birthday Aleksis!
Aleksis being tall
Here is the most supreme video of the year (minus the music) featuring Hugo Berziņš in Miera darz. Some people asked why Hugo is not in the Game of Skate Championship? It is hard to say actually, but he is definitely the first person in the list if someone drops out of the game, or doesn’t want to play. There are doubts about certain people at the moment, we will have to wait and see.
Another friendly facility is your boy Monster park the SPOT which just officially opened its doors last week. Yey! Now there is a ramp section for all you tranny hogs, as well as a nice foam pit to practice those steezy kickflip indys you always wanted to learn, but were too frightened to try. Rumor has it that skate only sessions are going to be on Friday evenings, but this info is not confirmed yet! However, since our man Miks Grantiņš is the manager at The Spot Center, we will have skate only session organised at the best time of the week, right Mik?

Kataloog homies from Tallinn went on a week trip to St.Petersburgh, Russia. For now there are only insta clipsavailable. The Kataloog godfather, Antti, promised us a full video recap later this year. This makes Kataloog crew the only known Baltic skaters to go over to Russia for a skate mission (after Arturs Bahurcevs of course).
Lithuanian homies had a first Skateboarding championship event. Here is the recap with some mind numbing soundtrack. Kelvinas Litvinas, the stylish young Vilnius head, got the first place with a perfecto run! It is hard to tell more about the event due to all info being in Lithuanian. We want to know what is going on!
Exciting transition guy – Žygimantas Rudys had a lil bowl part filmed by Gvidas Bindokas. As far as we are concerned Fully Ghetto guys are working on a new video too, which is rumored to be released this winter, so we will see more of Žygimantas flying around.
Have a good Friday and stay tuned for the next Game of Skate, coming tomorrow. Kaspars Gobiņš vs Roberts Potašs
p.s. If you have any suggestions on content for next Links article hit us up on Facebook or instagram, we are definatelly missing on some exclusive stories.
With a minor exception of two sneaky Estonian homies and a-long-rail-grinding Lithuanian, this month’s top ten consists mostly of Latvian skaters, which makes us exceptionally proud this month. Just kidding.
We can’t see everything that goes down in the Baltics, so if you have some hints or clips of yourslef shredding in the streets, send them to rajontv instagram page or tag @rajontv you guys know how this shit works!
The weather is really bad out side, but we were lucky yeasterday! We managed to film copuple of games and slowly we are going to put them out.
The first game of the championship is between two guys who are new to the championship, last year they didn’t make the cut. Saldus Saldie shreder Kaspars Polis and probably the tallest skater in Riga always positive, bigmouth trunk boy Aleksis Sokolovs.
Stay tuned as tomorrow we are posting another game between EDIJS AIZSTRAUTS VS MARCIS RUIKIS
Also RAJONTV top ten september clips is droping very soon.
