Links Aug-Sept 2019

To leave trash at a spot you hang out everyday is probably the dumbest thing you could ever do. Especially when this spot is a public space in the middle of the city where you are allowed to skate. Don’t take spaces like these for granted. Respect people who work there and clean your shit!

We are moving our LINKS section from the end of the moth to the approximate middle. In this section we post links to videos (or any other media) that came out recently. Obviously we can’t manage to cover absolutely everything, so if you have any suggestions or contributions, jot us a note at – rajontv.info@gmail.com or DM on insta.

The most intoxicated video of 2018 – “Pis Taisni” is going to have a sequel. The premiere date is set on 7th of December and the teaser is out.

Fully Ghetto Gang just released a short edit from Sauletekis spot in Vilnius. Special attention to Domantas’ ss fs crooks!!!

Now you can shop Vans at a new specialized Vans shop in Alfa, which opened its doors last week.

Our good friend Vanya Proshin from St. Petersburg made a short insta edit of some clips he filmed in Ventspils with Kristofers Ozols and visiting Sweedish dudes. Vanya is mad on the VX moves. He is no stranger to Latvia and hangs out here every summer. Give him a follow if you are into juicy VX clips.

Tallinn head Aleksandrs Hlabov made a summer 2019 mix. A lot of familiar faces skating good looking Estonian spots.

Toms Bika went to the new Imanta park with his trusty VX and a couple of rippers to test the new Mind Work Ramps bowl.

Vilnius looks like Paris in “JUX” a short video by Vilius JagminasIt seems they are at Republique or something. Really cool and can’t get enough of Kelvians footage.

A lot of big tricks went down during the King of Tallinn in the end of August. We featured some of the best tricks in August Top 10. Premiere of the full KOT 2019 video is set on 20th of September and it will go online shortly after that.

Valera Plug – Ollie. Shot by Arturs Bogdanovičs

RajonTV Game of Skate Championship 3 is about to start. We have a lot of new skaters involved in it including young Valera (photo above). The championship is going to start a bit later this year. We plan to release first videos closer to the end of September. Stay tuned for updates!

#RAJONTOP10 – AUGUST 2019

Summer 2019 is over and we at Rajon hope that you guys didn’t waste it. Most of August clips are from Estonia, and if it wasn’t for King of Tallinn this top 10 might have been a bit shorter. The feed during the last days of August was full of clips from Tallinn and especially the Viru stairs. August top 10 could have easily been dedicated fully to KOT, but we wanted to feature a bit more people. So only the best tricks from King of Tallinn made the cut (at least the best ones we saw).

We also changed the intro of top 10 (Thank you Niklavs V.). Feel free to express your feelings about that in the comments somewhere. Big shout out to everyone who keeps shredding no matter what. Peace!

You can tag @rajontv on insta or send your clips to us somehow, in case you want to be featured in future top 10s.

LNB Jam with Madars Apse

We had a great last summer session at the library thanks to Madars Apse. Everybody skated together in a free format manner.  Madars got boxes of goodies from his sponsors and gave away a bunch of stuff to session participants. But it wasn’t a contest at all. Those who landed tricks got some appreciation same as those who put in work, slammed and didn’t land anything. The idea was just get together and have a good time rather than find out who is the best.

Niklavs Vetra – blasting a Benibonga

A lot of people showed up, including some respected OGs, current top dudes and of course kids. At this event it was pretty evident that our scene is growing and becoming more diverse and interesting. Madars has been throwing these LNB sessions three years in a row now, and they will probably continue in the future as well.

Madars with the crates

It was cool to see young rippers too. Special shout out to the Cesis duo – Edijs and Artis, as well as the Zamas crew with fearless Valters in the lead. Valters sacked the 9 stair rail so hard it seemed he won’t be able to walk anymore. Next thing you know he is at it again and after two, three tries he bailed and it looked like he sacked it again. He seemed fine and hung put till the evening with everyone. Those are some ginger powers right there.

Edijs Plume
Artis Strazdiņš – got on the rail too

It was also cool to see LNB’s director Andris Vilks come down to hangout a bit with the crowd. He is one of the people responsible for LNB’s acceptance of skateboarding. Mr. Vilks was stocked to see so many skaters and he definitely understands the importance of making LNB skate friendly. Skaters make the spot alive.

Make sure to check out our recap below. And make sure to skate as much as you can! Winter is almost here!

Tikari skateshop: 2 day vacation in Vilnius

Words by Miks Grantiņš

Vilnius? Pretty God damn good street spots! I Haven’t been here for more than 10 years and it’s way better than it used to be, the flatground most of places has been reconstructed, so moving around the city is pretty smooth and easy. Many skate spots, perfect for any type of skater. What else comes to my mind? Oh! Too many electric scooters, haha, but it’s nice to see people eating shit on them. Also shout out to “Yammi kebab”, one of the best ones I have ever tried!

Of coursr shout out to Commune DIY, mostly Siom Sonkinas for hosting us at their workshop/indoor skatepark much love, Monster energy for giving us an extra boost and Fully Ghetto boys, Domantas and OG Juice for joining our session 🙂

No shout outs go to a place we rented our van, because that piece of shit broke down and died like 8km from Panevezys.

#lvskatenostalgia: Maxima kicker

Miks Grantiņš – ss flip maxima bump

Of course these days it’s rare that someone would skate next to a supermarket, let alone behind one, but back in the day behind-a-supermarket spots were really popular. There was that ledge in Pļavnieki behind a XXX Maxima, famous manny pad in Ziepniekalns, we had a launch ramp behind Rimi in Ilguciems. Although these supermarkets sold the same food, the spots near them were always different. Maxima bump/kicker in Ziepniekalns kinda stood out among behind-a-supermarket spots. A natural street bump is a pretty rare find, especially in Riga. It also had a prefect size. The bump itself was a bit short for some people, but it kicked you in the air pretty good.

The spot was accessible: anyone could skate it and have fun. It was small and it didn’t torture you so much. The kickout, at least from what I remember, wasn’t really an issue there. Bunch of tricks were filmed there and this bump pops up a lot in old Latvian skate vids. As of today that Maxima is renovated, so we might not see this spot again. To help us not forget this spot, we made a little mix/coplilation of tricks that went down at there. Enjoy.

What do you guys remember about this spot?  Any tricks that we should have included? Leave a comment.

#RAJONTOP10 – JULY 2019

This month didn’t treat us with huge amount of clips, but still we got to our required minimum. Shout out to Estonian homies on getting the majority of places this month.

We are already on the brink of summer closure with only August left, so let’s make the best of it. Tag @rajontv or use #rajontop10 to make it easier to spot your end of summer bangers.

JULY 2019 LINKS

Hope you all are having the time of your lives this summer. As for Riga Barax community days are spent enjoying the spot while it is still there. According to  rumors it is the last summer when Barax is around. Business people in suits plan to build a serious office building on that territory. All we can do is hope they will fail.

Straight forward podcast’s latest episode is with the notorious Edgars Berziņš. The talk is 18+.

Vans Latvian skate league had a third event in Ventspils. They had some Swedish rippers over which was pretty cool. The last 4th event is planned for September.

Speaking of Ventspils, it seems that our homie Karlis started filming some edits there.

If you are interested in new Latvian talents then definitely follow Artis Strazdiņš and Edijs Plume. These two kids are the most promising newcomers we had a pleasure of meeting recently.  Cesis represent.

Saldus Saldie is also constatly skating and making edits. It is always good to see Andis Vanadziņš on home turf too.

Upperground crew made a new edit called Orange. They are Barona plaza’s new wave skater gang. Bunch of clips from Kristofers Ozols in it as well.

Skate Tuber Ronalds Mazitis made a little edit from the fresh Imanta skatepark. If you haven’t been there yet, then this vid can give you an impression of what it is like to skate there. The bowl section in this park is the best one yet. If you go there during the day then the bowl is ony thing you can skate with a minimum distraction. The rest of the park clears up around 21 – 22.

The highlight of July for the Euro scene as well as the majority of Riga core community was the mind-boggling HELride event in Helsinki. Our athletes made the cut and took two medals in the final day Koff Race. Madars took gold and Fricis Štrauss took bronze. All those Death races over at G-tiim finally start to pay off.  HELride recap article coming soon!

We posted a VX clip of Rain Lendeman earlier and couple days later another clip from the same filmer came out. Similar as the Rain’s clip, this one is also filmed in 2016/2017 by Ranno Sootla. This time it is a mix of familiar Tallinn heads Enric, Egbert, Art, Kristo and others. Really cool edit with spots from Barcelona, Tallinn, Tartu maybe something else. Same crew had a mobile footy edit too, which looks like a more recent material. Shit goes down.

To finish July Links here is a night edit from Vilnius. 14 Skateshop and Fully Ghetto doing their thing when the city looks the best.

R LIKES: Rain Lindemann

Our recent posts were mostly centered around Estonia. Mestakooli DIY, Siim Sild’s Koidu edit, Viljandi BASH and now this video of Rain Linderman crushing it. We are stocked on everything that goes down in the Baltics, it is just that recent events were mostly connected to Estonia. Well, this clip is a must see. With a brief cameo from Tubin and Nils-Erik, it is mostly Rain’s part and he goes fast here doing clean tricks on what presumably are Tallinn spots. Not sure who filmed it, nor how old are those clips. We will update the info when we will have time to investigate, right now just watch and enjoy.

RAJONTV NEWS: Viljandi Bash 2019

viljandi bash 2019

Even in the rain, Viljandi BASH still proved to be the best Baltic skate contest (and we are speaking about a regular contest where any mortal can skate). Viljandi Bash is the closest to a skateboarding festival we have so far – it is a three-day skate party with money prizes, surprise obstacles, video premieres and just all around good times. The event has got a bit mellower since last year, but nevertheless it was intense and fulfilling experience.

Siim Sild Koiduplaza Part

crooked grind

Koidu is a 200 m2 concrete plaza in the middle of busy Tallinn which has become a-dream-come-true for local skaters. Built in late 2018 and available for skating  in 2019, Koidu plaza has already got a bunch of coverage from local heads under the sharp lens of Rainer Kaur. Our friend Siim Sild also stepped in front of the camera and collected 3 minutes of dope plaza footage. Enjoy.
