Game of Skate Championship: Game Fourteen

Finally, the championship introduces some young dudes. Andrejs Poikans just turned 18 and Tomass Daugavietis is 14 or something like that. They both ride for Clockwise skateshop and skate equally good, so this game might turn out great.

A slice of nostalgia:
I remember meeting Tomass at Imanta skatepark long time ago. He was so small he couldn’t even speak, the only thing he could say was “game of skate?”. So, we played skate with him. I felt super old, I was probably 22, would lose to him occasionally and that sucked. Good thing that Imanta skatepark doesn’t exist anymore, and I don’t meet Tomass that often. Gaba

Tomorrow we are going to post the most epic game yet –

MADARS APSE VS KRISTAPS JUDRIS

BARIX

Can a video make the scene look better than it really is? Yes, if it is made by a smart man with a vision and an original approach. Gatis Valters is excatly that kind of man.

Gatis is a Latvian filmer/skateboarder/singer who lives in Jersey (same place where Pillo Wheels are from) Gatis comes to Riga couple times a year to skate, film and sing(?). Last year he filmed at the BARIX and released the footage just now. The video is beyond anything we have expected, shows exactly what an original mind is Gatis! We feel like the video portrays Latvian skate scene even better than it really is. Decision was made to interview Gatis and ask him couple of questions about the video. Instead of an answers we received another video and here it is:

Make sure to follow Gatis and his future projects at his new channel NATIONAL SKATEGRAPHICS

Barix, Beriki or Barax (whatever you call it) was, is and forever will be one of the best underground spots in Riga. The rumor has it that they are going to build modern art museum there, so probably we will have to say goodbye to it in the near future.

Rajon News – Winter Kickoff Contest

We don’t really take contests seriously, because skateboarding is not about that, but you can’t argue that contests can be really fun sometimes. We went to hang out at Monster Park for the annual winter Kickoff contest. We talked to our homie skaters and judges about different topics that include: mustache trends, bribes, broken bones and trick selection. And yeah humble Rudolfs “Rudik” Rorbahs won the contest!

Game of Skate Championship: Game Twelve

Latvian skate legend Rudolfs Henčels playing against Clockwise skateshop rider Kaspars Gobiņš. This is the first game where the referee (Marcis Ruiķis) had to ban a trick, as he explained later – Zero pop: fuck that shit! The referee is the main person on the field, so there is no point to argue with him. However, what do you guys think about it? Was it fair?

Next week we are going to have some epic games:

Adris Putniņš vs Niks Kolosovskis
Tomas Daugavietis vs Andrejs Poikans
Madars Apse vs Kristaps Judris

Game of Skate Championship: Game Eleven

Pretty dope game at our favorite “stoyanka” in town! Fricis got the first slam in the championship, okay it wasn’t really a slam but pretty close. And officially the hardest trick in our championship so far is – heelflip.

Tomorrow mindblowing game of skate between the legendary Rudek aka Miestapincis and Kaspars “Ulbroka for life” Gobiņš aka Kasits.

Game of Skate Championship: Game Ten

Game of skate championship is here again. We went to old Prisma parking lot to hide from the rain and find out who does it best! Both Emils and Martiņš can do bunch of tricks, but only one can make it! Who…

Coming this weekend:
Fricis Štrauss vs Jevgenijs Kostirko
Rudolfs Henčels vs Kaspars Gobiņš

Game of Skate Championship: Game Nine

It seems like the fucking hospital flip (ķilis) is the new trick everyone throws out in the games! It has appeared three time already in our championship and we can’t say that we are excited about it. Is it Latvian favorite shitty trick? What do you think about it? Do we need to ban that excuse for a trick from the championship. Leave a comment with your ideas.
