#spotcheck: Grīziņdārzs

It’s rare to see a circulation of crews at an outside-the-center spot. You show up, someone’s already wrapping up a session. By the time you’re done, another crew rolls in. For a moment it feels like living in a skate mecca. Then you remember that besides Maxlas there’s not so many places in Riga where that usually happens.

The spot is a big wooden platform in a courtyard of a former factory building which is now turned “into a modern office and commercial space building”. The spot’s not perfect, but it has enough of everything: blocks to send, manny pads, ledges if you’re up for grinding wood. If you are not, you can sit in a café right at the spot and chill. Sip some coffee and eat buns, maybe even for free. Last time we ended up with a bag of leftover buns from the pastry shop after closing. So, the post treats.

No wind, no traffic, just skate and chill and no running as of now. Which is a little surprising. As more offices fill up around it, that might change. For now it works and is welcoming.

Rudzīts said, “I want to film a whole part here.” Makes sense.
