DISTRACTION

After doing a few pathetic flatground heelflips with Wade B. during our recent Sunday session, we came up with an excuse for our incompetence with that trick: “Nobody did heelflips back in rajon”. And it’s true. There aren’t many good heelflippers from previous generations of Riga skaters. Besides maybe Boga, I don’t think heelflips were popular, unless they were switch or nollie.  Regular heelflip and their variations were a fringe trick for a few open minded ones or those who couldn’t kickflip.

I don’t want to say the cliché “Kids are alright”, but after watching Distraction a new Big Mac production, the phrase “Kids are alright with heelflips” pops in mind. Ruta’s bs heel, Edgars’ fs heel, Ronalds’ varial heel and Niks’ Rick flip at gtiim stuck out trick-wise. Maybe that is the sign of rebellion against the old? Or maybe we just seen and landed enough good kickflips already, so it’s time to move on.

Congrats to Big and his crew for putting it all together. Enjoy the vid.
