Modern Economy with Takeover

Growing up, we used to skate near the Nelda shopping mall back in rajon, and every morning when we met up, we all would get a freshly baked baguette with cheese and seeds from Nelda’s bakery. I still remember how warm and tasty that baguette was, and most importantly how dirt cheap it was. Only 18 cents (santīmi in old currency) for bread that still haunts me two decades later. Fast forward to now, TAKEOVER’s new segment “Patusē pa padsmit” (loose translation to eng: hangout with fifteen) where they hook up a skater with 15 euros and follow them around as they spend it during the day, feels slightly absurd when you remember 18 santīmi used to feed a session. But despite the inflation and generation gaps, for better or worse, super glue is still affordable and is in high demand for skateboarders. Some things never change.

Peep the first episode of hopefully a continuous segment from the Takeover crew “Patusē pa padsmit” with Jānis Edgar Štrauss.

P.S. Make sure to skate the new flat spot across the street from LNB aka the Sunny Side of LNB. Which would be a typical non-spot in other parts of the EU, but here it feels like LOVE park or smtn.

Happy Easter and Peace.
